Pilar T. Henley, a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully passed away on January 30, 2025, at the age of 87 in Fairfield, Illinois. Born October 12, 1937, in Cebu City, Philippines, Pilar was the eldest of nine siblings, a role she embraced with profound sense of commitment.

Pilar is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Leonisa Thompson and Leonila Floyd, and her two grandchildren, Travis Thompson and Tara (Thompson) Semmler. She was known for her love of gardening, cooking, fishing, and her competitive spirit when playing bingo. As the first-born child, Pilar shouldered the responsibilities in providing guidance and support for her younger siblings. Her leadership left an indelible mark on her family, shaping their lives in significant ways, and she will always be revered as the matriarch of the family.

Pilar is survived by her two daughters, Leonisa Thompson and her husband Lon of Anchorage, AK, and Leonila Floyd and her husband Patrick of Roseville, CA; her grandchildren Travis Thompson (Heather) and Tara Semmler (Bart); her siblings, Edith Co (Tinong), Erma Tamarra, Fe Pacubus (Carlitos), Fidel Tamarra (Carmen), and Ernesto Tamarra; and numerous nephews and nieces. Pilar was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Magdalena Tamarra, and her brothers, Alex, Romeo, and Victor.

A memorial service to celebrate Pilar's life will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. The service will be held at Legacy Heritage Chapel at Angelus, located at 440 E Klatt Rd, Suite A, Anchorage, AK 99515.

The loss of Pilar is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in the lives she touched
