Born on September 28, 1945, in the Philippines, Rosalinda later made Anchorage, Alaska, her home. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of San Jose Recoletos in Cebu City, Philippines, marking the beginning of a lifelong career devoted to education and the children she taught and cared for.



Rosalinda began her teaching career in Anchorage at Tom Thumb Montessori School before joining the Anchorage School District, where she worked as a bilingual teacher. Education was central to her life, and she dedicated many years to helping students learn, grow, and find their place in the world. She continued teaching until her retirement at the age of 70.



Those who knew Rosalinda knew that she was independent, strong-willed, and completely herself. She enjoyed life on her own terms and took pleasure in both the simple and the special things that made her happy. Rosalinda loved to cook, dine out, travel, and shop. She also took great pleasure in her regular salon visits, especially having her hair styled and her nails beautifully done.



Cooking, in particular, was one way Rosalinda showed her love. She took great joy in preparing meals for family and friends, and she made sure everyone around her was well-fed and cared for. Her home was a welcoming gathering place filled with good food, lively conversation, laughter, and the warmth of her hospitality. It was rare to leave her home without being offered something to eat or something to take home.



Rosalinda also deeply valued her friendships. She cherished time spent with close friends, whether they were sharing a meal, trying a favorite restaurant, traveling, shopping, or simply enjoying one another’s company. The friendships she nurtured over the years were an important and meaningful part of the life she created.



Rosalinda was one of eight siblings. She is survived by Emerita T. Dacillo, Sylvia T. Venida, Josefina T. Macatangay, Gerry A. Tolentino, Wilfredo A. Tolentino, Cris T. Parrocha, and Ronald A. Tolentino, as well as her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many dear friends.



Rosalinda will be remembered for her years of service as an educator, her resilience and independence, her generosity, and the love she expressed through friendships, hospitality, and food. She lived a life filled with experiences, meaningful relationships, and the simple pleasures she treasured.



Though her earthly journey has reached its final chapter, her memory and presence will endure in the stories we share, the gatherings around her table, and the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
