Obituary Audrey Webster Jul 9, 1931 - Jun 21, 2022 Audrey Webster, 90 years old, a 60-year resident of Alaska, passed away on June 21, 2022, at Maple Springs Assisted Living in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born of parents Albert and Adeline Reed in Onida, S.D. Audrey graduated Lead High School in 1949, and received her teaching degree from Spearfish College in 1950. She began teaching at Central Campus in Lead, S.D., continuing with summer school at San Francisco State College. Then, in 1951, she returned to teach in Lead. Audrey married a classmate, John Webster, in June1952; they were married 60 years, until John died 2012. Together they had four children: Keith, Neil, Donna and Karen Webster. Audrey is survived by two children, Neil and Karen Webster; and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Johnson, who was Keith's wife at the time of his death in 1994. She survived eight siblings who lived in various locations in the Lower 48. Audrey has three grandchildren, Shasta, Lindsey and Chase; and seven great-grandchildren. In 1962, they decided to move to Alaska, driving a 1954 Dodge sedan pulling a trailer with three of their children. Audrey is a survivor of the 1964 earthquake; breast cancer in 1983; and skin cancer in the 1990s. Because Audrey was a social person, she quit teaching and began working in retail at Craig's Footwear and Rusty Harpoon remaining for several years. Audrey became very close friends to the owners of Rusty Harpoon. Audrey enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing and repurposing costume jewelry on wooden Christmas trees and crosses. She also enjoyed her garage sales every summer until she was physically unable. She also cherished her friends and neighbors visiting with them when she could. A celebration of Life will be held at Kehl's Palmer Legacy Funeral Home, 2095 South Alaska Street in Palmer, Alaska, on July 30, 2022, at 2 p.m. A reception will follow on site.
