Angelina Mary Shangin Obituary
Angelina Mary Shangin (Alvarez), beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, on September 1, 2024.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on September 19, 2024 , at Legacy Heritage Chapel at Angelus Memorial Park, 440 East Klatt Ste B in Anchorage, Alaska.

Viewing begins at 1 p.m., memorial service at 2 p.m. with burial following at

A Celebration of Life Potluck will be held at Kincade Chalet 9401 W Raspberry Rd .at 5:30pm

She was born on Wednesday, November 18, 1936 to Louis and Frieda (Gregorio) Alvarez, at Perryville, Alaska.

She was much loved and had many friends, relatives and acquaintances. She was known for her excellent cooking and baking, especially Alajiks (fried bread) and Agooduk (Eskimo Ice Cream). She was also known for her hospitality and generosity. She had nicknames and songs for each of her five children, sixteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She was the first Post Master at Perryville, and one of the first Health Aides in the State of Alaska.

She enjoyed picking berries, fishing, camping and the subsistence lifestyle. She also enjoyed crocheting doilies and many people are recipients of her fine work.

She was preceded in death by, her father, mother, husband Nick, sisters Julia and Maria and brother Victor, grandsons Ashley Brandal and Russell Shangin, Jr., (Buddy),and daughter in law, Patricia Shangin (Russell).

She is survived by her brother Tony Gregorio, daughters Karen VanWingerden (Mark), Lorraine Caldwell, (James), sons Russell Shangin, Edgar Shangin, (Yolanda), and Stephen Shangin, grandchildren, Karisse, Derek and Trevor (Narin) VanWingerden, Henry Brandal, Cody and Cory Brandal, Stephanie Becker (Austin), Hayleigh Caldwell, Nicole Cabrera (Jorge), Noah Shangin (Yolanda), Joshua Shangin, Jacob Shangin, Cara Shangin, Tiffany Shangin, Brianna Shangin, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

You are loved and will be missed. Farewell, till we meet again in heaven.
